The 2024 AMI Conference & Expo announces its opening keynote speaker
Fall brings some significant developments in the boating world:
- Marina managers can let out a deep exhale of post-summer relief.
- Boaters start to winterize and bolster your marina’s income with routine maintenance services.
- The Association of Marine Industries (AMI) begins to publish updates about the biggest marina conference of the year.
AMI released an exciting bit of news that revealed it will build on 2023’s conference theme that focused on team-building and fostering competent marina management structures internally. This year’s opening keynote speaker at the AMI Conference & Expo in Fort Lauderdale, Bill Benjamin, will introduce the conference with an address about the “last 8% culture system.” From AMI:

Bill Benjamin to Deliver Opening Keynote on “The Last 8% Culture”
Warren, RI — Bill Benjamin will deliver the opening keynote address at the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) Conference & Expo. This presentation, sponsored by Suntex Marinas, is scheduled for Tuesday, January 31, 2024, at the Broward County Convention Center, Fort Lauderdale, FL. His presentation, ” Build a High-Performance, Last 8% Culture,” will be at 8:15 a.m.
Bill Benjamin has over 30 years of business experience. Organizations like the U.S. Marines, NASA, Intel, Goldman Sachs, The Mayo Clinic and even Surgeons call on him for his expertise in performance and leadership.
Bill is a partner at the Institute for Health & Human Potential, a global leader in delivering Last 8% and Emotional Intelligence training. Bill knows first-hand the importance of having to perform under pressure: he is a recovering mathematics major. He is a former sales and marketing executive in the IT industry and he has received direct feedback from his wife and his two daughters that being smart is not enough to succeed at work or at home!
Bill addresses all those tough conversations that we tend to avoid because they are uncomfortable and hard, i.e., ‘the last 8%’, and that are often the most important conversations that aren’t happening. He will provide the audience with tips and tools on how to gain the courage to have those difficult conversations and why this is critical to the success of building a high-performing team,” says AMI Chair John Swick, CMM. “We are looking forward to having Bill join the conference this year.”
Following his keynote address, Bill will deliver a 60-minute breakout session, “Leveraging the Science of Emotional Intelligence to Build a High-Performing Team.” This presentation will drill down further on the information addressed in his keynote.
